Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is an eight member volunteer board appointed by the Duluth City Council. Seven members reside within the City limits and the eighth member may reside within the City limits or own and operate a business within the City limits. The eight member board serves two year terms with alternating appointment dates. Four members are serving 2009-2011, four members are serving 2008-2010. The board provides advice and guidance to staff,and elected officials in the best interest of the City to meet the recreational needs of all segments of the population within the community. The board is responsible for the development of park facilities that include projects associated with funding from SPLOST (Special Local Option Sales Tax), recreational policies and procedures, citizen input, budget support, and public relation support. The board meets the first Wednesday of every month except for holiday months, January and July in which the meetings are scheduled for the second Wednesday of the month.
