Uniform Patrol

The Uniform Patrol Division is the largest division within the police department and is considered “the backbone” of the agency. It is headed by Captain Randy Geary, who has 38 years of law enforcement service and 28 of that right here in Duluth.   The Uniform Patrol Division is tasked with being first responders and initial investigators on calls from citizen.

Currently there are four shifts in in this division and the special operations unit. All together there are 45 officers who are task with answering a variety of calls to include traffic accident, suspicious persons or activity, domestic disputes, runaway juveniles, thefts, robberies and many other emergency and non-emergency calls.  Included in the special operations unit include K-9’s, Motor officers, horse patrol and DUI enforcement.

The goal of the Uniform Patrol Division include the prevention and deterrence of crime by constant patrol, traffic enforcement, and the apprehension of criminal suspects to ensure the safety of our civilian population in addition to answering citizen’s calls for service. All calls are answered buy one of our officers in the Uniform Patrol Division. We are always on duty and willing to help with any situation. 

Included in the Uniform Division is the Special Operations Unit.  Special Operations includes K-9, Motors, and DUI enforcement.
