Colonel Jacquelyn Hood

Colonel Hood began her career with the City of Duluth Police Department in 1996.  Since then, she has worked in almost every area within the police department including Administration, Patrol, Community Policing, the Criminal Investigations Division, and Special Operations. She has served as the Deputy Chief of Police since 2014.

For over two decades, Colonel Hood has been working her way through the ranks while focusing on developing her leadership skills.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Framingham State College in Massachusetts, and a Master of Public Administration Degree from Columbus State University’s Law Enforcement Command College.  Colonel Hood also attended the Chief’s Executive Training held by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, and is a graduate of the 252nd Session of the F.B.I. National Academy.  Throughout her career, Colonel Hood has received several awards for service including: Top Gun, Supervisor of the Year, Meritorious Service Award, City Employee of the Year, and numerous commendations. 

Currently, Colonel Hood serves as the Deputy Chief of Police.  Her responsibilities include assisting the Chief of Police in the operation and management of the police department.
