The City of Duluth welcomes your business to our community. Every business in the City must apply for an Occupational Tax Certificate and renew it annually. The annual license expires on January 30 of each year. There is a grace period until April 30. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City will accept requests on an individual basis via email to email@example.com for an extension of the payment until June 30 without interest or penalty. Additionally, during the period of local emergency declaration, the City is waiving the requirement for the required forms to be notarized if that presents a current hardship. Business owners will need to provide these at a later date once the local emergency is declared over.
Renewal letters for 2020 Occupational Tax Certificates were mailed by December 31. For your convenience, fillable forms are available online for the 2020 renewal season. To help you navigate the forms, use your mouse to hover over a field for tips on what type of information to fill in. Once complete, the forms need to be printed, signed and notarized* (see above) prior to submission by mail or in person. Directions to City Hall are here.
