Overview:
The
Court Services Department administers Duluth's Municipal Court.

In order to process an on-line payment, this must be done at least (1)
one business day prior to your original scheduled court date. If your
citation is a MUST appear, you must be present during court. You will NOT be able to pay your citation on-line. If your case does not
mandate a court appearance, then your fines may be paid before your
scheduled court date. Citations may be paid online, in person, or at our
24 hour drop box, which is located in the parking
lot, on the Davenport Road side of the Duluth Public Safety Building. If you wish to pay in person, payments are accepted from
Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. -

Fines are payable by: Cash, Money Orders, Cashiers Check (bank only)
Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, and Discover). NO personal checks.
If you need a Continuance of your court date, it must be submitted,
in writing, to the Court and be approved by a Judge. Your request must be received (5) business days prior to your court date. The request
must contain your name, citation number(s), e-mail address, physical mailing address, a telephone number and the reason for the continuance. You are to assume that your request has not been approved, and you are still expected you appear in court on your original assigned court date until you receive a phone call from the court staff advising the Judge has approved or denied your request. At that time, you will be expected to do the following: If you are APPROVED for a continuance, you or someone on your behalf will be required to come to our business office to sign for your new court date in the next 4-5 business days after being notified by a court staff person. For the Application, click here. You will be notified within 24 to 48 hours of receipt of your continuance request, if it has been Approved or Denied. If you are unable to do any of the above before the time specified, you can come to the court's window and pay your citation, post it as a bond and have a new court date issued.
What happens if I miss my court date and my
fine has not been paid?
A failure to pay your fine or to appear in court results in an
automatic late fee of $75.00. A license suspension form is also
submitted to Department of Motor Vehicle Safety, with a fee of $5.00.
For more serious violations, such as D.U.I., Reckless Driving, No
Insurance, Racing, Laying Drags, Open Container, etc., a Failure to
Appear Warrant is issued for your arrest, with a fee of $150.00.
