If you need a Continuance, and you have not already requested one, it must be submitted, in writing, to the Court and be approved by a Judge. Your request must be received by our business office no later than 5 business days prior to your original assigned court date. You may submit your request for continuance via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org; via facsimile at (678).512.3806; in person at the Court’s window; or via regular mail addressed to The City of Duluth Municipal Court, 3276 Buford Highway, Duluth, GA 30096. Our business hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.
Your request must contain your name, citation number(s), current physical mailing address, e-mail address and telephone number and the reason why you are requesting the continuance. Continuances based on the ability to pay will NOT be granted.
You are to assume that your request has not been approved and you are still expected to appear in court on your original assigned court date until you receive a phone call or an e-mail from court staff advising the Judge has approved your request. It is your responsibility to contact the court, if you have not heard from the court regarding your continuance request. Please check your inbox and your spam folder. If you are approved, you will be expected to do the following:
- Your or someone on your behalf will need to come to our business office within 2-3 business days of receiving notice from the court informing you that your request has been granted. Once you have signed for the new court date, a copy will be given to you at that time. We cannot fax, e-mail, or give you your new court date over the telephone, this must be done in person
At that time, you will be assigned a new date
After all procedures are complete, you will be taken off the original court docket.
