DUTIES OF THE MAYOR:

  • Presides over all meetings of the City Council;
  • Head of the City for the purpose of service of process and ceremonial purposes and to be the official spokeswoman for the City;
  • The Chief Advocate of Policy – has the power to administer oaths and take affidavits;
  • Signs as a matter of course on behalf of the city all written and approved contracts, ordinances, and other instruments executed by the City which by law are required to be in writing;
  • Vote only in case of a tie or in case one vote is needed to pass any motion, resolution, ordinance, or other question before the Council. The Mayor Pro Tem, if presiding, may vote and the vote may be counted towards a quorum as any other Council member;
  • Fulfill other such executive and administrative duties as the City Council shall by ordinance establish;
  • Appoint Council Members to committees and they shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.

I have made a personal commitment to serve my hometown of Duluth Georgia. Being a life- long resident of Duluth, I have witnessed much growth and change. It is my goal, as your Mayor, to work closely with citizens and the City administrative staff to ensure quality growth in Duluth.

  • Two children, one son-in-law, one grandchild
  • Retired from Gwinnett County Public Schools
  • Mercer University/Atlanta – Instructional Program Coordinator
  • Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education- University of Georgia
  • Master of Education Educational Supervision- University of Georgia
  • Specialist Degree in Educational Administration – Georgia State University
  • Principal: B.B. Harris Elementary, Suwanee Elementary, Norton Elementary
