How to apply for an Alcohol License

1. Obtain Occupational License from the City of Duluth.
2. Receive appropriate application (Beer & Wine, Consumption, or Package Liquor) from City Clerk’s office at City Hall.
3. Submit application to Alcohol Tax Officer in the City Clerk’s office, completed and notarized.
4. File will undergo verification of Occupational Tax (business license) as well as status of any fees or taxes due to the City.
5. The file is sent to the Police Department for background investigation. All owners and managers must be fingerprinted.
6. File returns to City Clerk’s office and written notification of approval or denial is generated. Normal processing time required is roughly one week from date of application.
