- RECOGNITION – GWINNETT SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR
The Mayor and Council to recognize Tommy Algard, the “Gwinnett Sportsman of the Year.” Tommy is a 14 yr old Duluth athlete who was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was 4. He has undergone several surgeries and has been in and out of remission countless times while still maintaining a normal school schedule and showing up every day at the ball park. Whenever he was too ill to play, he would still show up to support his team from the dugout. Tommy is truly a sportsman! - RECOGNITION – PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARDS - TOP YOUTH

The Mayor and Council to congratulate Caterina Li of Duluth High School as a distinguished finalist in the 13TH annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. Caterina helped start “Crossroads of Hope,” a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational funding for underprivileged children in rural China. The organization’s fundraising efforts so far have generated more than $31,000 to provide student scholarships, books, newspapers and school supplies. - OATHS OF OFFICE

- CCEPTANCE OF FY07 AUDIT REPORT AND LINE ITEM TRANSFER OF $5,000
Bradley Carroll, Chairman of the Finance Committee will present the 2007 Audit Report to Council. The City’s audit was conducted by the accounting firm of Mauldin & Jenkins, with the City receiving an Unqualified or “Clean” opinion of its financial statements. A request will also be made to transfer $5,000 from Credit Card Fee 100-902-159053118 to Auditor 100-902-156052385 for additional audit fees associated with the Circular A-133 Single Audit, additional time spent valuing the capital assets and prior period adjustments. (Audit report provided with weekly report materials on 3/14/08.) - WAIVER/CO-SPONSORSHIP REQUEST – SUMMER 2008 CONCERT SERIES
The Mayor and Council to consider a request from Bridgeworks Productions (Justin and Landon Hoffman) for the City to co-sponsor a concert series this year. This co-sponsorship would waive the rental fees as well as the clean up fees. Bridgeworks agrees to pay for an attendant and necessary police officers and all permits associated with the sale of alcohol. The series would consist of 4 concerts. These concerts will be ticketed events with the Town Green area being fenced and a beer garden and grill being provided by Tavern on the Bridge. In addition to the concert series, Bridgeworks also requests co-sponsorship of an Octoberfest event to be held on Saturday, October 18th. This event would be from Noon until 11:00 pm. This would be a free event and the co-sponsorship by the City would include performer and production costs for the stage entertainment, police officer fees and clean up fees all being covered by the City. Bridgeworks would produce the show, erect fencing, and handle all vending and vending sales as well as seek sponsorship for the event.
