Citizens Budget Committee

The third Citizens Budget Committee will be starting in March 2011 and this is your chance to get a detailed look at City finances and help with making the difficult decisions on what to do when revenues needed to run the City are down. The great achievements of the two previous Citizens Budget Committees have been recognized by the Georgia Municipal Association and the Atlanta Regional Commission as examples for other cities to follow.

The meetings are planned for every Thursday beginning March 24th and ending April 28th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. To be effective you need to plan on attending all 6 of these meetings. At the completion of the meetings you will be making recommendations to the City Council on balancing the budget for fiscal year 2012. In years past approximately 44 people signed up to participate as a member of the Citizens Budget Committee. The number will only be limited by the size of the available meeting space. Please email Susan Weber at sweber@duluthga.net if you would like to participate.

We would like to be able to communicate between meetings through E-Mail when possible. The meetings will take place in the Community Room of the Duluth City Hall. We look forward to working with you on a great new year.
