  • Jason Rogers, Assistant Director of Recreation, completed all requirements to receive his C.P.R.P. (Certified Parks & Recreation Professional) from the National Parks and Recreation Association (2010)
  • Taylor Park playground received national recognition in the N.R.P.A. publication for a successfully designed City playground (2010)

2008 – 2009 Awards

  • Police Department received State Certification from the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (2009)
  • National Main Street Accreditation for the 5th straight year (2008)
  • Officer Liz Strickland was awarded the Medal of Merit from Gwinnett County (2008)

2007 – 2008 Awards

  • Livable Centers Initiative Achievement Award presented by the Atlanta Regional Commission for the work towards creating the City’s Town Green and mixed-use developments by implementing a Downtown Redevelopment Plan (2007)
  • Awarded “MADD-Department DUI Hero Award” for having the highest number of DUI arrest statewide for an agency our size by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (2007)
  • Officer Bobby Johnson was awarded the Medal of Valor from Gwinnet County (2008)
  • Officers John Gladden and Thomas Williams were presented Officers of the Year Awards from the Gwinnett County Bar Association (2008)
  • Operation One Voice received the Medal of Merit from the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce (2008)
  • Chief R.D. Belcher awarded the “Motorola/Dr. Curtis McClung Award of Excellence” by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (2008)
  • Kathy Marelle, Parks & Recreation Director, completed all requirements to receive her C.P.R.P. (Certified Parks & Recreation Professional) from the National Recreation and Parks Association (2008)

2006-2007 Awards

  • The Duluth Public Safety Center & Heery International were recognized with the Design Build Project of the Year and First Place Design Build Award from the Design Build Institute of America (2006)
  • Lt. Bill Stevens was presented with the Law Enforcement Office of the Year award from the American Legion (2006)
  • Lt. Bill Stevens was preseneted with the Office of the Year award from the Gwinnett Chamber (2006)
  • Duluth Town Green was the only downtown project included in the book “The History of Engineering in Georgia”. Jordan, Jones & Goulding were the engineers for the project (2006)
  • Duluth Fall Festival named at one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events held in the Southeast (2006)
  • City Administrator, Phil McLemore, recognized byt ICMA (International City Manager’s Association) for 35 years of Local Government Service (2006)
  • Oliver Scott, Parks Tennis Instructor, ranked No. 3 in Georgia and No. 5 in Southern Men’s 50s circuit and No. 3 in the National Men’s 5os circuit (2006)
  • Operation Drive Smart presented an Education Programs Award from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (2007)
