Duluth Youth Lacrosse Association Donation

Jerry Consie, President of the Duluth Youth Lacrosse Association to present monetary donation of
$500.00 for Fall of 2012 , and $500.00 in the Spring of 2013 for a total of $1,000.00 to the Duluth Parks and Recreation Department for field maintenance.

Operation One Voice Honor Ride

This year, Operation One Voice is honoring Naval Special Warfare with both the Honor Ride & SOF Run. The 6th Honor Ride is remembering Petty Officer Neil Roberts, the first Navy Seal killed in action in Afghanistan. This year’s Honor Ride Team includes 25 cyclists including Georgia State Patrol, City of Tallahassee Police & Fire, Gwinnett Sheriff deputies, Department of Defense, MARSOC Marines and four active-duty Navy Seals. Also joining the team in Duluth, Major General Mark Clark/ MARSOC Commanding General. Mayor Pro tem Jim Dugan and Councilmember Jones accepted this plaque during the arrival of the cyclists at City Hall on Friday, September 7th.

Duluth’s Gateway Public Art Project Generously Funded by AGCO

The City of Duluth, Georgia, led by the Gateway Art Project Committee (GAPC) and Mayor Nancy Harris, are very pleased to announce that out of 85 letters of intent from artists all over the country for this very exciting public art project, the committee has selected local artist, Michael Dillon, from Milton, Georgia to design Duluth’s first piece of public art. The chosen design will be a permanent piece of original art to be installed in the center of the newly constructed roundabout located at the intersections of West Lawrenceville Street, McClure Bridge Road and Irvindale Road. This historic residential setting is considered a “gateway” into downtown Duluth, and this piece of art is expected to become a significant icon in our City and an important symbol to welcome citizens and visitors alike into the heart of Duluth.
